ScratchPatch V1_1: An investigation into the manipulation of sound through gesture control.

ScratchPatch V1_1 uses the concept of scratching digitally but is applicable in the contemporary
turntablist market . As I have developed my software with Ms Pinky, it is available to anyone who
owns a Ms Pinky set up, and can be used by any standard of dj. It uses traditional language of
movements and also develops new ones. A dj using the ScratchPatch will find existing scratch
techniques will serve multiple functions, and gestures that might once have done nothing,
now manipulate different aspects of the sound created.

The practice of turntablism has reached a new stage in its evolution.

Due to the invention of digitally timecoded vinyl the dj is no longer restrained by the boundaries
of contemporary practices. Ms Pinky have developed a vinyl that holds digital values, transforming
the analogue values of the vinyl into the digital domain.
